Work in progress
I had struggles with getting a clear picture when it was very sunny. I had to attempt various different settings when overcoming this issue.
When taking pictures of shadows in the dark, I found it difficult to produce clear pictures. To overcome this I used different lighting equipment such as mobile phone lights and torches.

Aesop's tale: The dog and the shadow
It happened that a Dog had got a piece of meat and was carrying it home in his mouth to eat it in peace. Now on his way home he had to cross a plank lying across a running brook. As he crossed, he looked down and saw his own shadow reflected in the water beneath. Thinking it was another dog with another piece of meat, he made up his mind to have that also. So he made a snap at the shadow in the water, but as he opened his mouth the piece of meat fell out, dropped into the water and was never seen more.
Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow

Final project: shadows
After researching the concept of shadows, I found several different meanings:
In Greek mythology, Erebus is the God of darkness and shadows and is associated with Hades and the underworld.
Shadow people are supernatural figures often thought to be evil or malevolent spirits.
A shade is often known as a spirt or ghost.
In eastern culture, shadows are thought to be a representation of God's presence around an object, like a halo.
I thought that shadows were a good example of a trace of life as they follow every person's steps and are a representation of a person or object without actually seeing the person or object.

Lee Friedlander
These are some examples of Friedlander's work with shadows. He puts himself in the photos without the audience actually being able to see him.

Inspirational Photographers
Martin Parr
I really like Parr's use of colour and location. Its different from other photographers we have studied. I will try to use similar colours in my own work.
